A – Z Cities with Mysteries – Real & Fictional

Iowa City, Iowa

There are many mystery books where a house is being remodeled and a skeleton is found behind the wall. Was the victim murdered? Can the cold case be solved?

Mary Helen Stefaniak can beat that claim with a true-life twist on that old trope J

In 2004, Mary Helen and her husband were tearing down walls of an upstairs bedroom in their home— a former Stagecoach Inn. No hidden bones or skeletons here. Instead, they discovered an exterior wall formerly covered by lath and plaster was papered with circus posters.

A – Z Cities with Mysteries – Real & Fictional

Henderson, NV

My novel, A Frenzied Bid for Murder, is set in Henderson, Nevada (near Las Vegas).

“…A compelling mystery with an unusual theme and compelling plot threads.”

- --Marilyn Meredith, author of the Rocky Bluff P.D. series

Henderson, Nevada resident, Venice Sinclair enjoys bargain hunting at storage locker auctions with her best friend, Tanya. Unloading the units and sifting through their contents make her feel like she’s on a treasure hunt.

Being the highest bidder, Venice Sinclair discovers personal journals in a strange locker. Curiosity prevails and she soon finds herself drawn into the dramatic tales revealed in the diaries. Getting more than she bargained for, Venice uncovers disturbing hints about a dangerous crime.  Murder...

Each tantalizing clue presents more questions than answers. What happened to the journal writer? Who is the dead girl discussed in the diary? Can they identity the nefarious boyfriend? And where is the body?

A – Z Cities with Mysteries – Real & Fictional

Green Bay, WI

Green Bay is host to the Writers’ Police Academy (WPA). This mystery conference is unique in that while most conferences hold panels and discussions on all things mystery, the WPA immerses the writer in hands-on experiences.

I’ve attended several of the earlier WPA conferences (my 1st was the 2011 con) when it was held in North Carolina. It was fascinating and informative and thrilling!
